Included are extensive geological and physical maps (state by state, national and international) and a job resource center. Fossil Web Sites Trilobites - www.tirlobites.org Trilobites lived over 300 million years ago and consisted of over 20,000 species. Their fossil remains are found on every continent however they became extinct before the dinosaurs. In an extremely comprehensive web site entirely devoted to trilobites, biologist Sam Gonn III details the fascinating story of these remarkable animals. Videos and Lecture Series on Geology Geology Lectures by Dr. David Pearson on www.youtube.com This excellent overview of geology by Dr. David Pearson of Canada provides a comprehensive basic overview of the field. It is easy to understand and entertaining - including footage from the "Planet of Man Series" documentary series. Although airing originally in 1975 it still remains an excellent source of information about the field. It includes lectures on rocks and minerals, earthquakes, volcanoes, fossils, oceanic geology, mining and more. Engineering Geology on www.YouTube.com This is a comprehensive overview of approximately 40 lectures in engineering geology carried on YouTube by Professor Debasis Roy of the Indian Institute of Geology. In addition to several lectures giving an overview of issues in geology such as the nature of rocks, minerals, soil and water. Some of the later lectures provide technical engineering information. This series is part of a larger lecture series by of about 200 civil engineering lectures such as surveying, water conservation and more from Indian lecturers all available on YouTube. It includes a CD with graphic illustrations of the concepts. It is designed as a textbook but may be easily read as a resource book. Included are instructor and student resources to reinforce the educational focus of the book. Roadside Geology & Geology Underfoot Series Books available at www.geology.com The Roadside Geology and Geology Underfoot Series of books provide an easy to read and very understandable overview or common geological formations that one might encounter while touring the US. There are over 30 states included in the series and they make the geology of the area familiar and approachable. The series is an excellent way start to appreciate the wonders in the geological landscape enveloping us.
